Shri Goswami Tulsidas jee is one of the most important Hindu saint and poet who brought the learnings and teachings originally written in Sanskrit to the common man.
Tulsidas was renowned for his devotion to Lord Rama. One of his prominent work is Ramcharitmanas, which is the re-telling of Ramayana in Awadhi language. He is also credited with the starting of Ramlila, a folk form of re-enacting Lord Shri Ram's life from the great epic Ramayana.
The famous Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi (Banaras) is named after him. Sankatmochan temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is also believed to be founded by Tulsidas at the spot where Lord Hanuman gave him darshan. Tulsidas Jayanti is observed as the birth anniversary of this great saint-poet.
