On 5th October 2019 is the seventh day of Navaratri. On this day devotees worship Goddess Kaalratri, the 7th form of Maa Durga.

She is widely regarded as one of the many destructive forms of the mother goddess like Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Mrityu, Rudrani, Chamundi, Chandi and Durga. Kaalratri is considered the fiercest form of the Mother Goddess, her appearance itself invokes fear.
This form of Goddess is believed to be the destroyer of all demon entities, ghosts, spirits and negative energies, who flee upon knowing of her arrival.

एकवेणी जपाकर्णपूरा नग्ना खरास्थिता, लम्बोष्टी कर्णिकाकर्णी तैलाभ्यक्तशरीरिणी।
वामपादोल्लसल्लोहलताकण्टकभूषणा, वर्धनमूर्धध्वजा कृष्णा कालरात्रिर्भयङ्करी॥

Vaam Paadollasallohlata Kantakbhushanaa. Bardhan Moordham Dhwajaa Krishnaa Kalratrirbhayankari ||
The colour considered to be auspicious on this day and to be worn on this day is Blue as a symbol of fearlessness. Offering sweets made out of jaggery to the Goddess Kaalratri are considered to be the favourite for the goddess. It is believed that goddess Kaalratri bestows her true devotees' protection from evil powers and spirits.
